year-round departure

chernobyl17 geekytravelThe morning of April 26th, 1986, changed the city of Pripyat, USSR and the wide region around it forever. A failed test in the nuclear power plant of Chernobyl caused the roof of reactor number 4 to be blown off, jumpstarting massive radioactive pollution which spread across Western and Northern Europe. Over 100.000 citizens were evacuated and the zone around the plant was declared 'Not suitable for living'. Now, many years later, it is safe to return for an educational, guided trip with Geeky Travel: both to respect what happened that day and pay tribute to the brave people who worked to rescue others and died of radioactive pollution. It is also amazing to see how nature has been very resourceful in taking over the human made structures and revovering from this disaster. Geeky Travel has teamed up with the best local company in order to provide you with a safe but entertaining program in which you will vist Pripyat, a quick glance at the plant and the wide area surrounding it. This trip is special and will leave a lasting impression. You will be able to go on a private tour or take a discount and sign up for a public tour with other people. Check the travel terms at the bottom! And to top things of, we include an interesting orientation tour of Kiev on day two, for you to get to know Ukrainian habits and customs.
